The Hawkins Library is a key component in the New Hope Academy academic community. The large, spacious room itself serves a multitude of purposes from school assemblies, all-grade devotions, book fairs, etc. However, much more than a crossroads for the school community, the development of a love for reading and learning implanted in each student, literally brings our books to life.

The library’s mission is to provide resources to serve the information needs of students while at New Hope Academy. Books have been selected to support the school’s curriculum and offer exceptional academic reading, as well as recreational reading.  Our staff members, along with the school’s reading specialist, are available to assist in the selection of appropriate works based on learning styles and reading abilities.

Presenting a ‘Birthday Book’ to each student is a long-standing New Hope Academy distinctive that affirms students and adds to the Hawkins Library book collection. The awarding of a ‘Birthday Book’ is a celebrated New Hope Academy tradition. Each student is presented with a new book in recognition of his/her birthday, regardless of when the student’s special day falls on the calendar. The student’s teacher presents a book from a subject of the student’s interest that bears his/her name in front of the entire student body. The student’s character strengths and quality traits are also affirmed by his/her teacher. Then the student is allowed to be the first to check out the book for a week prior to its addition to the library.

The Hawkins Library is named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Boxwell Hawkins for their years of vision, prayer, and service in the establishment of New Hope Academy.
