New Hope Academy believes in educating the whole person – body, mind, and spirit to the glory of God.
New Hope Academy strongly believes that motor movement helps develop the physical, social, psychological, and spiritual aspects of a person. Because the body is God’s temple (1 Corinthians 3:16-17), the child will comprehend how important it is to be strong and healthy, and begin a life-long commitment to staying physically fit. Fitness and Wellness are a vital part of the New Hope Academy curriculum and is broken into developmental stages:
Kindergarten and 1st grade:
Students begin physical education by learning and practicing basic motor movements through games, music and movement.
2nd and 3rd grade:
Students learn the basic skills and rules of a few formal sports, then practice through creative games and play.
4th, 5th, and 6th grades:
Students implement their knowledge of skills and rules through playing more formal sports.
In every grade good sportsmanship is emphasized and practiced.
Nutrition and wellness are an integral part of our snack, hydration and lunch programs, and our daily lunch menu represents this commitment to our students’ fitness and wellness.
