NEW HOPE 6th GRADERS RAISE MONEY FOR CLASS TRIP

Students put on songwriters night to benefit Washington, DC trip fund.

FRANKLIN, Tenn., March 12, 2009 –New Hope Academy believes every student deserves the chance to understand the roots of our nation’s history through firsthand experience. With half of its 220 students depending on full scholarships and many more benefiting from partial financial assistance, finding the additional dollars for a class trip to Washington D.C. can be challenging for many families.

On Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 7 p.m. a special evening of great music, delicious coffee, and scrumptious desserts will take place at New Hope Academy. Proceeds will make it possible for every student to go on the class trip. The sixth graders and their parents have put together a wonderful night showcasing some of Nashville most accomplished songwriters.

Allen Shamblin will be there, writer of “He Walked on Water,” sung by Randy Travis, and “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” sung by Bonnie Raitt, and Robin Bruce will delight guests with tunes she’s penned for artists like Lee Ann Rimes, Jo Dee Messina, and Tracy Lawrence. Up-and-coming gospel artist Anthony Evans will also sing heartwarming songs of hope.

New Hope places tremendous emphasis on hands-on learning. In keeping with that educational philosophy, the sixth grade American History curriculum culminates in a trip to Washington, D.C. Students will visit the White House, U.S. Capital, the Smithsonian Institution, the Lincoln Memorial, and Monticello, to name just a few of the stops along the way.

Join us for an uplifting date night, girl’s night out, or special evening with friends at New Hope. Tickets are available for $12 in advance at the school office, or at the door for $15. Coffee and dessert will be served. New Hope Academy is located at 1820 Downs Blvd. in Franklin. Contact the school at 595-0324 for more information.

NEW HOPE ACADEMY opened its doors in 1996 when a Williamson County church became the catalyst for lasting change in the low-income neighborhoods of Franklin, Tennessee. New Hope Academy reserves 50 percent of its seats for low-income children, and raises more than $1,000,000 annually to provide scholarships to those students.
